In My Linen Closet

You ever notice those people who like to express themselves by decorating their houses for all to see? I am not talking about the once a year Christmas lights that so many people do, I am talking about the inflatables, the garden gnomes, the decorative flags and the pink flamingos. This is a big way of people to express themselves. To such people it seems as though it is important to them that everyone recognize their spirit of the season...or something like that.

To other people it is important to have a linen closet.

So can a linen closet be used to express oneself? I would argue yes, and here is why, these are the pillow cases you will find in my linen closet. I think it is a good way to express myself without imposing upon others.

My, sometimes I am in the mood for orange pillow cases.
My President's Day/spring time pillow case. (My mom use to bake cherry pie for President's Day...you remember the story about George Washington chopping down the cherry tree...)
You might call these my back to school pillow cases.
Holloween pillow cases, the blue one has glow in the dark.
Thanksgiving/fall pillow cases.
Easter pillow cases. Spring/summer pillow cases. I need more of these because they are happy and because there is more time for summer than other holidays.

Just happy pillow case.
Fourth of July or otherwise just feeling patriotic pillow cases.

A Poem or Few

I spent a good part of my day going through old stuff and found some poems I wrote a long time ago; most in grade school and one as a teenager. While I am no Todorojo I thought I would share.

How I Feel

I feel glad when I get a friend
I feel sad when a life is at end
I try to help when people need it
And I try to be kind.

Silly Jill

Silly Jill would always spill
but when it went on the floor it would run out the door
but when the funny day came
nothing seemed quite the same
she never slopped a dropped
then everyone hopped.

Ice Cream

As it drips down the cone its sticky substance falls on the floor
with its many flavors that are quite a chore.

Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall

Spring, summer, winter fall those are the seasons known to all
Some are hot, some are cold, but all, I have told

Our Pet

Our pet is a dog he goes with us to jog
He is a black and white Springer Spaniel

On Blowing a Fuse

I blew three fuses in the past couple of weeks and I have learned a couple of things about them, or should I say… lessons from them.

I blew a fuse in my house. I should have known it would happen because I had done it before, but I forgot. I had the heater going at the same time as the hair dryer. I lost the electricity in the back part of my house and had to borrow the fuse from the garage to finish getting ready for work then put it back when I left so I could close the garage door.

I blew a fuse with a friend. I didn’t really see it coming, but the wrong thing happened at the wrong time and I reacted in a way that was, like the fuse in my house, bothersome.

I also blew a fuse in my car. This was a new experience and one that I was surprised about. It turns out that you shouldn’t put fingernail files to the light bulb of the clock while the car is running. I was unable to put my car into gear and almost had to leave it parked going the wrong way in front of my house.

Lessons learned

It only takes a little too much to blow a fuse and when you do it can halt activity. Fortunately fuses are not hard to fix. The important thing is to know quickly how to fix the problem and then remember always how to not overload so that it doesn’t happen again.
